Robert joins Alchemy from Mattel where he was Executive Director of the Mattel Children’s Foundation and Director, Corporate Affairs and Philanthropy. Robert brought a new perspective on integrating business and purpose. He launched a nationwide program called Speedometry using Hot Wheels cars to teach math and science in elementary schools, established global a partnership with Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation and expanded programs with Save the Children in Indonesia. He also championed a $50 million gift to UCLA to build a new Mattel Children’s Hospital and establish global medical exchange programs.
His varied and values-led career includes a stint at U.S.A.I.D. where he helped plan and implement humanitarian operations in Afghanistan coordinating the delivery of millions of pounds of relief supplies and food. He was also Director of Humanitarian Affairs for the Sudan Programs Group and co-led technical discussions that helped pave the way for successful peace negotiations.
He has been Chief Operating Officer of International Aid focused on safe drinking water and support to hospitals in areas of distress; co-founded and was CEO of Executives Without Borders; and established recycling programs in Haiti in the wake of the 2010 earthquake creating over 1,500 jobs and cleaning up over 160 million bottles from the streets and canals.
In the national security part of his career, he served in Baghdad as the Chief of Staff and Deputy Senior Adviser rebuilding the Iraqi Ministry of Health and worked with special operations forces at the Pentagon. He then served as Deputy Associate Director, Office of Presidential Personnel at the White House and went on to perform the duties of Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs developing and implementing policy for 700,000 active duty, reserve and civilian personnel.
Robert is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy and served over 5 years in active duty. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s General Management Program and has a Master’s Degree in Business from the University of Southern California and is the recipient of numerous military and civilian awards including the Air Force Exceptional Civilian Service Medal.
